It’s an exciting time for the OPAL service as we look to build on and expand our groups and group activities in the West Lothian area. We provide a range of group activities which help older people to stay connected, independent and feel part of their community. We encourage them get to know people locally, make new friends, share hobbies and interests, and to live every day to the full! We’re now looking for a dynamic individual to join the team to work alongside the Groups Coordinator on a sessional basis to support the delivery of groups within the West Lothian area.

You’ll need to have an understanding of how group activities can support and promote self-worth, but we’d also like you to bring your own friendly personality, encouraging approach and enthusiasm to the groups you will support. There are currently four established weekly groups for which you will plan an ongoing range of interesting and varied activities. Gathering feedback from attendees is also important as we are always looking to explore new ideas to ensure we offer plenty of options and variety. Previous experience of working with older people would be an advantage but isn’t essential, more importantly is your warm, compassionate, friendly nature and organised, professional approach. Working within the OPAL service provides an opportunity to support some of our most vulnerable clients who may otherwise be lonely and isolated.

Our Charity Shop will raise crucial funds to support Home-Start West Lothian’s work with young families across West Lothian.

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced Project/Shop Manager who will have the skills necessary to recruit and manage a team of volunteers/trainees, maximise income, organise stock regeneration and undertake all banking and financial recording.

An understanding of working to targets, recruiting and supporting volunteers/trainees, income and expenditure budgets, benefits of social media and gift aid is essential.

The workers will deliver a holistic advice service to our client group with a focus on debt advice, financial capability and income maximisation.

Applicants should have experience of working in advice sector for a minimum of 2 years as well as working knowledge and experience of income maximisation, money advice, and budgeting, financial education.

The applicant will also have excellent communication skills and the ability to work to targets/deadlines and have experience of producing reports for funders. Knowledge and experience of CAB would also be advantageous.

Also required is proficiency in Word, Excel, e-mail and have knowledge of using a case management/recording system.

 Base: You will be based at CAB West Lothian although travel throughout West Lothian will be required.
