Fauldhouse Community Development Trust AGM

Third Sector Strategy Group Meetings Schedule

The role of the TSSG
To advise and guide the Gateway about the needs of the sector at national and local policy development level and the delivery of the work plan.
To facilitate sector reps at forums representing the sector and not just narrow organisational interests.
To facilitate the setting up of appropriate systems for the constituencies of organisations in each thematic/geographic group e.g. children and families, local regeneration planning etc.
To facilitate communications both up and down between forums and the sector and within and across the sector.
To influence policy and planning nationally across the sector.
To act as a ‘sounding board’ to provide advice to the Gateway on its future strategies and plans.

Accessible Housing Information Event

accessible-housing-event-page-001Capability Scotland Advice and Support Service West Lothian are holding an Accessible housing event on Wednesday 14th December 2016 in the Ability Centre, Carmondean Centre Road, Livingston, EH54 8PT.

The event is aimed at disabled people. At the event there will be a number of short information sessions on housing and adaptations.

SCVO are pleased to announce that three events will take place in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness next year to help organisations understand the basic requirements of data protection.  Attendance is free and early booking is advised.

Staying with data, SCVO’s latest datawareness blog from Maureen H Falconer, Scotland Manager at the Information Commissioner’s Office, looks at accuracy, retention, and rights in regard to personal information and the Data Protection Act.

Social Enterprise Day

chris_whoknewThis Thursday 17th November 2016 is an opportunity for the 70,000 social enterprises across the UK to shout about the good work they’re doing and the difference they’re making.

Social enterprises are invited to tell their stories with the #WhoKnew hashtag and to post pictures on their social media feeds (including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) to showcase their organisations.

To take part, simply print off a #WhoKnew sign, take a photo and share on social media using the hashtags #WhoKnew and #SocialEnterpriseDay between Monday 14th and Thursday 17th November.

Invitation to Open Secret Conference: ‘Into the Future’, 28th November

conference-2016-invitationOpen Secret is pleased to invite you to our upcoming conference, Into The Future: Health, Protection and Provision – Issues for Survivors of Sexual Abuse

Since the publicity surrounding Operation Yewtree, the Rotherham Alexis Jay Inquiry and the current National Child Abuse Inquiries in England and Scotland there has been a focus on services for abuse survivors.  With further risks presenting and changing at a fast pace and the ongoing needs of adult survivors we need to ensure the delivery of appropriate responsive services in Scotland.  This conference will look at how far we have come and what should be in place for survivors moving forward.

This conference will be of interest to any professionals who provide services to survivors of abuse in any capacity, survivors of abuse who would like to share their views on the needs of survivors and how services can best support survivors and other professionals who can impact on policy.
