Governance Four: Setting up a Charity & Introduction to SCIO

Come to our FREE workshop and learn about what is needed to set up a charity, who can help and what paperwork templates are available to make your journey towards charitable status a smooth one. We will also look the relatively new legal form for charities, the Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO). We will focus on the differences and idiosyncrasies of the SCIO and why it is widely becoming the charity of choice for new organisations. We will look at how you form a new SCIO or converting your existing charity into a SCIO.

This workshop is aimed at both staff and charity trustees who are interested in setting up a new charity or considering changing the legal form of an existing charity.

Dads N2 Work Training programme

TSI Charity Law and Finance Advisors Training

A new suite of training has been created to develop the capacity of TSI staff to support local third sector organisations across key areas of charity law and finance support

In partnership with CVS Inverclyde, EVOC, Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise and OSCR

The training consists of 5 training modules:
Module 1: Charity Law Advisors (2 days) £150
Module 2: Charity Finance – Receipts & Payments (1 day) £95
Module 3: Charity Independent Examination (1 day) £95
Module 4: Charity Funding (½ day) £50
Module 5: Charity Trading (½ day) £50

The training can be completed as an entire ‘suite’ OR as individual modules – as long as the candidate has completed any prior training required (as specified).

A description for each module and booking details are provided here.

The training has been developed by the Trainers Forum – a group of TSI officers who have expertise in both providing these areas of support and in delivering training to build the capacity of others to provide support. The Trainers Forum includes representation from OSCR who have collaborated on developing the training content and approach.

Our Designated Child Protection Officer Training course is for anyone responsible with receiving concerns about the safety and welfare of children and young people who work with children in Scotland.

Our training course will help you gain the skills to act appropriately and confidently to protect the children you work with in a designated child protection role, gain the skills you need to act appropriately and confidently to protect the children you work with and support your staff.

Taught by experienced professionals, you will learn how to recognise, report and record concerns about a child’s welfare and incorporates the Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) approach in Scotland.

This is a full day course being delivered in Aberdeen on 18th January 2017 and Glasgow on 7th March 2017
