Team Tasks Wanted

December 15th, 2011

We are currently offering the opportunity for Voluntary Organisations to get involved with the Employer Supported Volunteering project. We have a database of teams of volunteers but only limited tasks for them to carry out.  We are in the process of trying to add to our portfolio of opportunities which the Council and Private Sector Organisations can choose from.  Can you help?

Do you have one of those jobs that have been waiting to be done for years?  Rooms that need painted or a garden that needs a bit of TLC?  Through Employer Supported Volunteering, we can provide teams of volunteers to carry out these jobs. We are looking for both indoor and outdoor tasks to be carried out during 2012.

Please complete this form and send back if you are interested. Jenny Caseby would be happy to meet and discuss any tasks you may have. Telephone: 01506 650111 Email: jenny.caseby@vsgwl.org.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP VULNERABLE PEOPLE DURING SEVERE WEATHER

December 8th, 2011

As part of the Severe Weather Arrangements, West Lothian Council with the support of its partners has set up an Emergency Volunteer Service to help vulnerable residents who are housebound due to bad weather conditions.

The service is intended to support vulnerable members of the community by delivering essential food and shopping, collecting prescription medicines and clearing paths and driveways, allowing existing services to support those most in need.  The service will only be active in times of severe weather as determined by West Lothian Council and partners.

We are now looking for volunteers to support this service, either in your own time or during times when you are unable to get to your usual place of work (with your line manager’s authorisation).

Local volunteers are needed to deliver shopping, collect prescriptions, and to clear paths and driveways.  Volunteers must have proof of a satisfactory disclosure or PVG membership. If you are willing to help, please complete a Volunteer Offer Form and return it by email to HIT@westlothian.gov.uk

If you belong to a local community group or voluntary organization that is willing to help, we would like you to tell us how to contact your group and what your group would be able to help with. Please fill in the relevant parts of the Volunteer Offer Form and return it by email to  HIT@westlothian.gov.uk.
