Social enterprise Campaign Collective has launched a new guide aimed at helping grassroots activists and first-time campaigners who want to take action on local issues.

The Hear My Voice campaign guide is a downloadable resource filled with expert advice on how to influence decision-makers, offering the tools and techniques needed for running a successful local campaign.

Nancy Platts, one of the guide’s authors, explained: “Whether the goal is to secure a safer crossing for children or to prevent the closure of a local service, it’s crucial that people know how to influence those making decisions about their lives. This guide has been created to support them in doing so.”

The guide provides practical steps for building support through petitions, public meetings, and getting others involved. It also features various campaigning ideas, from publicity stunts to the creative art of craftivism.

Additionally, the guide offers step-by-step advice on building campaign skills, including creating a short film and conducting impactful media interviews. It also includes inspiring case studies, quotes from other campaigners, and legal guidance to ensure campaigns stay on the right side of the law.

Originally developed for the Austerity Action Group, funded by the Social Workers Union, the guide has been so successful that a second edition has now been released.

Ian Morton, co-author of Hear My Voice, commented: “Campaigns are more likely to succeed when people collaborate and use everyone’s skills to influence those in power. Our guide blends traditional and online campaigning techniques, ensuring that everyone on the team can get involved.”

The guide is available to read online now.
