SUMMARY:Whitburn Working Together for Wellbeing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:West Lothian Community Planning Partnership (CPP) has agreed to prioritise type 2 diabetes prevention through a pilot project in Whitburn. \nThis workshop brings together the Whitburn community\, professionals and decision makers to develop a common understanding of type 2 diabetes. There are many factors that contribute to the risk of developing type 2 diabetes\, some that we cannot influence such as genetic and inherited factors and some that we may have a bit more control over\, like body weight and activity levels. Having a higher body weight and body mass index (BMI) can increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. We know that other factors ranging from breastfeeding to deprivation are also closely linked to the risk of both obesity and type 2 diabetes. \nIn this first workshop we will work together to map the “whole system” that contributes to obesity within a local context. This will later allow us to identify the greatest opportunities for change. The workshop will be critical to all local efforts to create a community where we eat well\, have a healthy weight and are physically active.

This award in Cyber Security will give you knowledge and skills to protect individuals and businesses from becoming victims of cyber-crime.Covering data security\, digital forensics and ethical hacking the award will provide a solid foundation in cyber security.The course lasts 8 weeks including a 2 week break for Easter Holidays. DESCRIPTION:Background\nScottish Government legislation and the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 introduced provisions allowing more flexibility for holding virtual meetings for corporate bodies\, including SCIOs\, charitable companies\, co-operatives\, community benefit societies and friendly societies. The deadline for groups registered with OSCR to amend their rules or articles of association to allow them to legally conduct AGM and similar meetings using remote technology needs to be in place by 30th March 2021. \nPurpose\nIn order to allow us flexibility to conduct General Meetings and our AGM online\, we will need to amend our Articles of Association (revised version attached) to make it ‘future proof’ and explicitly allow virtual meetings. We propose the following Special Resolution; \nSpecial Resolution\nAmend Clause 14.2 to: “Any or all of the members may participate in general meetings by means of electronic communication provided that throughout the meeting all persons participating in the meeting are able to communicate interactively with all other parties participating in the meeting. SUMMARY:The Equalities Workshop 2021
DESCRIPTION:At present people from a BME background remain under-represented in the legal profession in Scotland and applications and award s of traineeships are still low when it comes to BME people. Law firms and advocates chambers are therefore missing out from this potential pool of talent and experience because of this under-representation. More work still needs to be done and practical measures need to be taken to ensure that more people of BME background enter and progress within the legal profession in Scotland because dropping out is still common among this community. \nThere have been marked progress when it comes to gender diversity in the legal profession but when broken down further\, that progression is mainly of white females with BME females still lagging. The workshop program has been designed to provide participants from the sector with a platform to explore how the legal industry in Scotland can meet its Equality Act 2010 obligations to increase racial diversity\, equality\, and inclusion to the profession. Looking back at the ten years of the Equality Act 2021 there has been some progress made\, with some concrete steps that have been taken\, but there are areas such as compliance with\, and implementation of \, equal opportunities policies where there is still more work to be done. The legislation has not been as robust when it comes to penalties for those who miss their own targets on their public sector duty for equality and this has provided a cop out. \nThe Speakers for the event are experts in their fields who will be speaking on the Equalities Workshop. SUMMARY:Event for Young People - SCCR Conflict Resolution - Anxious & Afraid
DESCRIPTION:Are you a young person aged 16-25? Looking to learn more about conflict resolution?\nWe have created a series of conflict resolution training based on our normal face to face training but adapted for an online event. Each session is about 40 minutes long and this session ‘Anxious and Afraid’ explores anxiety and stress. See below some information on the event\, and if you sign up you will also be emailed a pre-event pack a couple of days prior to the event with all the information you will need. \nFollowing the session\, you will be able to: \n\nRelate to the emotional state of being anxious and afraid\nExplore some of the science behind this state to improve individual wellbeing\n\nThe session will be delivered on the online platform Zoom\, by the SCCR trainer. If you book on to the session you will be sent the details on how to join nearer the time to the event when bookings have closed and a full PDF document with all the information you need to know will be emailed to you. This session is at an introductory level and no prior knowledge of the subject is required. \nPlease note Zoom offers video capability so you can join with your webcam on\, but this is entirely up to you and this option can be turned off. However we would love to see your faces and feel it is a more interactive experience with videos on. \nWe hope to see you online soon!
