Fauldhouse will soon unveil its new and long awaited Fauldhouse Mining Tribute in the centre of the village to celebrate the community’s long mining history. The project was led by Fauldhouse and Breich Community Development Trust and supported by West Lothian Council.
The design process for the Fauldhouse Mining Tribute was started in 2019. Unfortunately, progress was delayed several times due to Covid restrictions. The completed sculpture, in consultation with the local community, was conceived by public artists; sculptor Ailsa Magnus and carefully designed by artist Billy Caulfield. It is a fitting tribute to the miners and all those from the community who worked in the mining industry.
The launch event is to be held on Saturday 16 July at 11am at the Fauldhouse village green (opposite Scotmid), Main Street. Former MSP and local councillor, Neil Findlay will be officially unveiling the sculpture with representatives attending from the Scottish National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and music being provided by members of the Kinneil Band.
