New Youth Volunteering Opportunity with Diabetes Scotland

Role: Youth Peer Support Volunteer
Age range: 18-24 with type 1 diabetes
Duration: April 2021 – April 2022 (funding dependant we will hopefully extend)
Location: Online on Discord and Zoom while local restrictions are in place
What is the role? You will be trained in one of the specific roles below and will work with young people across Scotland or in your communities with Diabetes and support them to improve their management of their diabetes and their emotional and mental wellbeing. You will also learn so much from being involved with us and get the opportunity to learn, grow and develop new skills as you go!

Deadline for applications? April 23rd

This project will work with young people aged 13-24 with Type 1 across three different opportunities:

1. 1-2-1 Buddying in Glasgow
2. Group peer support in Glasgow, Ayrshire and Arran, Lothian and Forth Valley
3. The creation of a national discussion group and space online

They have opened recruitment for volunteers to assist in running and delivering these different peer support opportunities. They are looking for around 20 volunteers from across Scotland aged 18-24 with Type 1 Diabetes who would like to be a part of this project and would like to be trained and supported to become Peer Supporters.

They are looking to begin training at the end of April and the project should be up and running by the summer!
