‘Carers Scotland are currently in the process of organising the Carers Parliament for 30 October 2019. Our theme this year is the Diversity of Caring (some further info below) and we are keen to try to reach out to people that may not currently identify as carers or people that may not be part of our existing carer networks to encourage them to attend.
Do you think it would be possible to promote the Parliament to carers through your network or otherwise? We don’t have specific information for delegates at this moment but that will come in the next few months. Carers will be able to apply to attend by entering the ballot, for fairness. We try and ensure there’s at least one carer from every area in Scotland. T&S is covered for all carers attending.
They can also find out further information by contacting Fiona Collie at Carers Scotland : firstname.lastname@example.org
Background Information :
Since 2012, we have held a Carers Parliament to:
Carers Parliament 2019
This year’s Carers Parliament has a theme of the Diversity of Caring
We want to recognise and celebrate the diverse nature of caring in Scotland. Carers have been described as ordinary people doing extraordinary things but fundamentally carers are individual people with their own unique experiences, aspirations and diverse needs. These differences present both an opportunity and a challenge to those tasked with taking forward policy development and our Carers Parliament day will be our opportunity to explore what this means in practice.
The day will:
· celebrate the diversity of both carers and caring in Scotland
· consider the impact of policy and legislation on carers’ lives
· reflect on the challenges faced by carers; those that are common and those of different groups of carers
· share best practice, gather diversity of experiences and influence the way forward
