We are keen to encourage applications from all sections of society especially from people who are currently under represented on the board: disabled people, men, young people (18-30), BAME, and people with lived experience of the types of services that we provide.

We are particularly interested in applications from individuals who bring experience or a background in one or more of the following areas: social work, homelessness, housing support, health, social care, working with charities and/or the public sector, fundraising, marketing, people with lived experience of the fields in which we operate: mental health, trauma, disadvantage, homelessness, people with experience of the care system, those with knowledge of the communities in which we operate in East Central Scotland namely Edinburgh, Forth Valley and Fife.

If you have experience outside this which you feel would be relevant, we would be equally interested to hear from you.

For an informal discussion about the role please email Claire.clapperton@linkhaltd.co.uk to book an convenient time to chat with a member of the senior management team.

NHS Lothian is looking for volunteers who can  commitment of approx. once a week for six months to support patients, visitors and staff at St john's Hospital.  We have vacancies Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and hope volunteers can attend for  2 or more hours a week.  We are looking for friendly people to welcome patients and visitors to the hospital as guides and to support our wellbeing lounge.

Guides are based in the main reception area and other entrances to greet patients and visitors and help them to find the part of the hospital they need either by giving directions or accompanying them.  The guides also support safe hospital visits by encouraging social distancing, use of hand gel and masks. This role is really important to helping all visitors, especially those who are new to the site or are a little nervous to have a positive experience at the hospital.

The Wellbeing Lounge volunteers help to create a calm, relaxing and friendly space for staff to come and spend time during their breaks, by offering refreshments, and making conversation and offering a listening ear.  The Wellbeing Lounge has been established to provide support to staff who are working particularly hard in these challenging times as both a thank you and also a place to restore  physical and mental energy.

To find out more or apply for either role download an application pack or email Volunteer.Enquiries@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk
