Exciting opportunity to become part of a brand new community development.
LAMH are a charitable company who have been delivering community based mental health services since 1983 and worked in the West Lothian region since 2014. We have been commissioned to work in an innovative new service with West Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership within community wellbeing hubs in Bathgate and Livingston, as well as working on a sessional basis in all G.P. practices across West Lothian.
You will need to have good communication skills and be able to develop positive rapport with people and assist them to recognise and develop their individual strengths and skills.
You will be able to work independently and be pro-active in finding community resources and helping people access local services and activities that promote their sense of wellbeing. You will have the ability to sustain contact with individuals and encourage and motivate them to maintain activities to promote their sense of wellbeing and give them greater hope for the future. You will also be increasing awareness of and promoting the use of self management techniques.
In addition you should be confident in working closely with clinical staff, G.P.’s, practice staff and community agencies. You will need to maintain accurate records and actively participate in evaluating, monitoring and reporting this innovative service.
No qualifications are required, however staff will be supported to work towards achieving qualifications to meet SSSC registration purposes. An understanding of mental health issues and basic IT skills would be advantageous. Previous experience of working with people in demanding situations would also be desirable. A genuine interest in people and the ability to work on your own and positively as part of a team are essential requirements.
We encourage applications from people who have personal experience of mental health difficulties.
