The Community Empowerment Act helps to empower community groups through the ownership of land and buildings and by strengthening their voices in the decisions that matter to them.
A session was held in Bathgate back in February to provide an overview of the Act and to introduce you to West Lothian Council’s participation request process.
West Lothian Council and Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian will now be holding two follow-up sessions in November to give local community groups an opportunity to hear how the participation request process and other parts of the Act have developed locally, to hear from groups that have made asset transfer and participation requests and to find out how you and your communities can get involved.
- Wednesday 21 November, 2.30-4.00pm, in Forestbank Community Centre – Sign up here
- Tuesday 27 November, 6.30-8.00pm, in Blackburn Partnership Centre – Sign up here
You can book your place at one of these sessions using the links above (the content will be the same at both so you only need to attend one).
The sessions will mainly focus on the Community Planning, Participation Requests and Asset Transfer parts of the Act. However; if you have a particular interest in another part of the Act please let us know in advance and we will look to incorporate this into the session.
