As you know Social in the Gardens, the 'festival of social enterprise', returns to the Ross Theatre in Princes Street Gardens on 27 and 28 July 2018 and will be even bigger and better than before. We will be open from 10am - 8.30pm both days and have a great line up of performers, family activities, a diverse range of social enterprises selling their products and providing catering and refreshments, and support agencies offering information, advice and guidance re all things social enterprise.
With a change of days to the weekend, we anticipate smashing last year's visitor numbers and attracting well in excess of 10,000 members of the public over 2 days. (Last year we had 7,800 visitors, midweek and with horrendous weather!)
A key ingredient that is vital to making Social in the Gardens such a huge success is our amazing team of volunteers.
This year we are looking for up to 50 volunteers over 2 days to undertake the following roles;
Volunteer coordination - we are looking for 1 or 2 people to work a few hours a week from now until the festival to help recruit and train the volunteers, and support them on the days of the festival. This opportunity would make an ideal secondment opportunity.
General volunteers - we need a squad of can-do folks to help out at the festival with, for example, setting up, meeting and greeting the general public, signposting visitors to information, keeping the area clean and tidy, encouraging members of the public to visit the festival.
First aiders - we are looking for 8 volunteer first aiders (who have a valid qualification, minimum of the 24 hour/standard training course) to be on site to help if required.
All volunteers are covered by our insurance and will receive meals and expenses as detailed in the accompanying volunteer role descriptions.
If you are interested in volunteering as an individual please complete the attached SitG18 volunteer application form and return to me at firstname.lastname@example.org asap.
If you are interested in pulling together a team from your workplace, I would love to hear from you and we can discuss a group 'Employee Supported Volunteering' agreement.
If you can't help out yourself, but know someone who might be interested please forward this email.
If you have any questions before you apply - please ask!
Social in The Gardens is amazing fun and does so much to raise the profile of social enterprises in Edinburgh, helping them showcase all the wonderful things they do for communities and the environment, so please know that by volunteering you are giving your time to a very worthwhile cause.
