To promote, encourage and assist the restoration, maintenance and use of canals in Scotland as amenity. To acquire, preserve and restore to original condition wherever possible boats, barges and other vessels. To display and exhibit such items to the public and to demonstrate to the public their working. To encourage the retention and preservation of any such items as hereinbefore mentioned museums. To promote and further the study of and research into canals, their vessels, buildings and equipment.
