Third sector cost of living forum support

Published: November 30, 2022

We are all acutely aware of the pressures and uncertainties that the cost-of-living crisis is having on our organisations and many of the people that we support. West Lothian Council recently established a short life Cost of Living Task Force to consider collective solutions. VSGWL sits on this Task force.

The Council is also undertaking a local mapping exercise to identify potential Warm Hubs / Welcoming Spaces that are facilities to provide warmth to people without adequate heating. A working group has been established to maximise the scope for assistance that can be provided. Faith Groups from across West Lothian sit on the group.

Following discussion at the 17 November TSSG meeting, it was agreed that we should establish a dedicated Third Sector Forum to strengthen our position and collectively consider how we can best meet the needs of our staff and volunteer teams as well as those we support in the months ahead. We would look to hold a meeting early in the New Year to develop the Forum`s Terms of Reference, meeting frequency and identify practical ways of supporting each other. Proposed meeting date is Wed 11 Jan from 10am -11.30am at the VSGWL offices. Meeting will be held in person and online.

Can you reply to by 5pm Thurs 15 December to confirm your interest in being part of the Forum and also advising if you are able to make the meeting on 11 January please (meeting will be held online and in person in our offices).
