Job Title – Community Volunteer Development Officer

Salary – £27,497 – £30,553

Hours – 35 Hours per week. 1 year fixed term, with possibility of extension.

Location: Bathgate, West Lothian- Blended home/office working

Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian (VSGWL) is the Third Sector Interface (TSI) operating in West Lothian. Our primary purpose is to promote, develop and support West Lothian`s Third Sector. We work in partnership with the voluntary sector and key statutory and public stakeholders to improve the lives of individuals and communities across West Lothian.

VSGWL requires an experienced Volunteer Coordinator with a track record of delivering success.

You will be:

  • Lead VSGWL’s Community Volunteer Project, managing volunteers and working with partners to ensure service users needs are met with volunteer support.
  • Understanding of best practice volunteer management including, recruitment, induction, training and supervision of volunteers.
  • Someone with proven ability in forming alliances and partnership working to bring out sustainable change for communities and the wider third sector.
  • Engage volunteers and stakeholders in the co-production and development of services.


Role Overview and Responsibilities

This is a brilliant opportunity for a creative and driven individual to have a significant, positive impact on individuals from local communities across West Lothian.

You will lead a dedicated team of volunteers that will provide low level support to people in their community that need a helping hand or are awaiting other support packages.

You will have strong organisational and communication skills and experience of recruiting, leading and inspiring volunteers. This role requires strong communication, organisation and influencing strengthen partnership working. You’ll be tenacious and resilient, have strong networking and influencing skills and the ability to build rapport quickly. You’ll be a self-starter, resourceful and comfortable making your own decisions.
