Family Learning encourages family members to learn together, as and within a family, with a focus on intergenerational learning. Family Learning activities can also be specifically designed to enable parents to learn how to support their children’s learning. The effects of family learning are known to extend beyond the duration of the intervention and provide long-lasting impacts and improved outcomes. A family learning approach can also be a catalyst to helping adults take up adult learning and training opportunities, gain employment or learn new skills. This in turn positively impacts on children’s individual attainment, their aspirations and personal learning journey.
West Lothian Council Education Services recently agreed that the service requires to build a comprehensive picture of family learning activity in West Lothian. In order to capture this information I am asking local community providers to complete a short survey.
The information you provide will help to form an accurate overview of current provision and establish baseline information. We are interested in your response even if you don’t currently deliver family learning activity. Please respond by Friday 30 September via the link below. Please also pass this survey to any other relevant organisations or groups.
