Inclusive Volunteering has published a new guide to help groups and organisations create their own Volunteer Personal Development Plan (VPDP). The resource includes a downloadable template alongside toolkits and practical guidance.
A VPDP acts as a tailored roadmap to support volunteers in their personal growth and development. While many skills are gained naturally through volunteering, some individuals — particularly longer-term volunteers — may wish to develop specific skills or take on more senior roles.
The guide highlights that volunteering is not only about giving time to a cause but also about building confidence, developing new skills, and creating meaningful connections. It also reflects Inclusive Volunteering’s focus on making volunteer management more trauma-informed, helping to ensure volunteering is safe, supportive, and fulfilling.
A VPDP can be used flexibly, either during individual supervisions or as part of a group workshop, enabling volunteers to align their contributions with their personal goals.
