As the Third Sector Interface for West Lothian, Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian (VSGWL) is committed to ensuring that the voices of local third sector organisations, social enterprises and volunteers are heard in shaping local priorities and services.
We are encouraging all third sector organisations to take part in the current consultations being run by West Lothian Council and the West Lothian Integration Joint Board (IJB). Like other Councils and IJBs across Scotland, both are facing budgetary pressures and are seeking feedback before making decisions on potential savings and service changes.
These consultations present important opportunities to influence decisions that will affect our communities — from health and social care planning to wider community development and local support services.
Your experience and insights are invaluable. By contributing your views, you can help ensure that policies, plans and services truly reflect the needs and priorities of the people and communities you work with every day.
How to Get Involved
You can have your say by taking part in the following consultations:
-
West Lothian Council Budget Consultation – closes Sunday 16th November 2025
-
West Lothian Integration Joint Board (IJB) Consultation – closes Tuesday 9th December 2025
We encourage you to share this opportunity with your staff, volunteers and service users.
If you would like support in responding or wish to discuss how these consultations may impact your organisation, please get in touch — we’re here to help.
Key Budget Areas for the Voluntary Sector
We would particularly encourage stakeholders to provide feedback on the following West Lothian Council budget proposals:
5y: The provision of a service which works with individuals and community-based projects to assist regeneration, deliver targeted campaigns and support efforts to reduce inequality in these communities, including financial support to the voluntary sector. (£1.5 million)
5z: Disbursement payments – small sums of money provided to community groups for local projects. (£98,000)
Together, we can ensure that the third sector’s voice is heard and that local decisions are informed by the knowledge and experience of those working closest to our communities.
Thank you for your continued commitment and contribution to West Lothian.
