This session will give participants the opportunity to hear directly from young women about what they need from professionals to help prevent online violence against women and girls (VAWG). The event will include:
-
a viewing of new video resources, presented by the young women who created them
-
insight into young women’s lived experiences online
-
a dedicated Q&A session for practitioners
The resources were developed by The Young Women’s Movement, working with local schools and community groups. They build on the learning and legacy of the award-winning Young Women Know programme, delivered in partnership with NSPCC Scotland between March 2020 and March 2025.
Young women involved in the programme have created four new video resources aimed at preventing online VAWG. These videos explore key themes including:
-
AI imagery and videography
-
online misogyny
-
consent and reporting
-
online safety
The videos are designed to act as practical guides and conversation starters for practitioners working in youth and community settings. They will be shared during the session and added to the existing suite of Young Women Know resources.
This work has been funded by Inspiring Scotland through the Delivering Equally Safe programme.
Together, we can be better equipped to respond to the evolving pressures and harms young people face in their digital lives.
