About the workshop
This practical session will explore how community groups can plan, fund and deliver renewable energy projects that benefit their communities.
The workshop is aimed at community leaders and active members who are either curious about, or already exploring, options such as:
-
heat pumps
-
solar panels
-
battery storage
-
wind turbines
The session is particularly relevant for groups that own or have a long-term lease on the building they use. No prior knowledge is required.
Lunch will be provided, and travel or childcare expenses can be covered where these would otherwise be a barrier to attending.
What to expect
Participants will hear about:
-
opportunities in community energy
-
real-life case studies from communities across Scotland
-
step-by-step guidance on planning, funding and delivering projects
-
support available to help progress ideas
-
space to discuss ideas, challenges and next steps
By the end of the session, attendees will have a clearer understanding of:
-
what makes a strong CARES application for Scottish Government funding
-
what community-led decarbonisation projects look like in practice
-
where to start with costs, energy assessments and next steps
