We’re pleased to share that the successful organisations funded through Year 5 of the West Lothian Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund have now been published.
The fund supports local third sector organisations to deliver community-based activities that promote good mental health and wellbeing for adults across West Lothian. Since launching in 2021, it has invested in a wide range of grassroots and community-led projects that help people stay well, feel connected and access support within their own communities.
With a strong focus on prevention and early intervention, the fund aims to reduce loneliness and social isolation, promote positive mental health, strengthen community connection, and tackle poverty and inequality as key drivers of poor mental health. There is a particular emphasis on reaching people facing socio-economic disadvantage and other groups who may be at greater risk of poorer mental health outcomes.
The fund is delivered locally through a partnership approach, with Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian acting as the lead organisation. This ensures funding decisions are informed by local knowledge, need and lived experience, helping investment reach where it can have the greatest impact.
As part of the Scottish Government’s Fairer Funding Pilot, some organisations funded in Year 5 have been awarded two-year funding to support longer-term planning and stability. Year 6 funding is subject to formal confirmation by the Scottish Government.
A full directory of funded organisations is available on our website, organised by funding year. This includes details of projects supported in Years 1–5.
