Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian is hosting an upcoming YGAM Social Care training session, supporting those who work with children and young people to better understand and respond to gaming and gambling harms.

Delivered by Ygam, an award-winning charity, this interactive workshop will explore the digital environments young people navigate and how these can impact their health and wellbeing.
The session will provide practical insight into:
- How young people engage with gaming and gambling
- The influence of social media, advertising and gaming mechanics
- The impact on mental health and wellbeing
- The blurred lines between gaming and gambling
- In-game purchases, microtransactions and virtual currencies
- Recognising signs of harm
- Having effective, supportive conversations
- Signposting to appropriate support
This session offers a valuable opportunity for staff and volunteers to build confidence, develop their understanding, and gain practical tools to support young people in a rapidly evolving digital world.
