New Women’s Walking Football taster sessions are set to kick off in Bathgate this June, offering a fun and inclusive way for women to get active and connect with others in their community.

The initiative is being delivered through a partnership between the West Lothian 50+ Network and Bathgate Thistle Community Football Club, bringing a welcoming new activity to the local area.

Open to All

The sessions are open to women of all ages and abilities, whether they’re completely new to football or returning after time away from sport. Designed to be relaxed and friendly, the sessions focus on enjoyment, participation and social connection.

No previous football experience is required—just a willingness to give it a try.

Session Dates

Two taster sessions will be held at Bathgate Sports Centre, with participants asked to meet at the main entrance:

  • Monday 15 June at 10:00am
  • Wednesday 24 June at 8:00pm

These sessions offer a flexible opportunity for women to come along at a time that suits them.

Building a Community Activity

Walking football is a slower-paced version of the game, making it accessible, sociable and suitable for a wide range of fitness levels. The aim of these taster sessions is to help establish a regular Women’s Walking Football group in Bathgate, encouraging more women to get involved in physical activity in a supportive setting.

Get Involved

Anyone interested is warmly encouraged to attend, meet new people, and be part of launching this new local initiative.

Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, try something different, or simply enjoy a social activity, these sessions provide a great opportunity to get started.
