This week, Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian is proud to support Small Charity Week 2026, a national campaign celebrating the vital role small charities play in communities across the UK.

Across West Lothian, small charities are making a big difference every day. They provide support, friendship, advice, opportunities and hope to people of all ages and backgrounds. From tackling isolation and improving wellbeing to supporting families, volunteers and local communities, their impact is felt throughout our communities.

Small Charity Week shines a spotlight on these organisations and recognises the passion, commitment and dedication of the staff, trustees and volunteers who make their work possible.

Why Small Charities Matter

Small charities are often deeply rooted in their communities and are uniquely placed to respond to local needs. They provide trusted, person-centred support and help strengthen the communities they serve.

This year’s campaign aims to celebrate the achievements of small charities while raising awareness of the challenges they face and the importance of supporting them to thrive.

Support Small Charities

Throughout Small Charity Week, supporters can help make an even greater impact through the campaign’s partnership with Big Give and Global’s Make Some Noise, where selected small charities can benefit from match-funded donations.

Together, we can help ensure that small charities continue to make a difference across West Lothian and beyond.

We would like to thank all the small charities, community groups, social enterprises, trustees, staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to support local people and strengthen our communities every day.

Happy Small Charity Week!
