Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian (VSGWL) is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Development Officer (Employability) to join our team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.
About the role
Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian (The Gateway) is the Third Sector Interface (TSI) for West Lothian. Our primary purpose is to promote, develop and support West Lothian’s third sector.
We work in partnership with voluntary sector organisations and key statutory and public sector stakeholders to help improve the lives of individuals and communities across West Lothian.
As Development Officer (Employability), you will support individuals across West Lothian on their journey towards positive destinations, including sustainable employment and volunteering opportunities.
You will work closely with a range of third sector organisations providing employability services through the West Lothian Third Sector Employability Forum.
The role will involve building and maintaining strong relationships with employers and training providers to help secure employment, placement and volunteering opportunities, particularly for individuals who may face additional barriers, including long-term unemployment, disability or lack of confidence.
You will also support the CEO in VSGWL’s wider contribution to the development of employability strategy through the West Lothian Local Employability Partnership (LEP).
Contract information
This is a fixed-term maternity cover appointment, expected to be for a minimum of six months.
The actual end date may be brought forward or extended depending on the substantive postholder’s return date. Any change to the end date will be subject to the notice provisions set out in the contract.
