Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland is appealing for volunteers to help secure the future of the Bathgate Stroke Support Group, which provides valuable peer support to people affected by stroke in the local community.

The long-established group is currently looking for 1 or 2 volunteers to take on the roles of Chair and/or Secretary.

Due to ill health and changing circumstances, the current coordinators are preparing to step down. Without new volunteers, there is a risk that the group may have to close.

The Bathgate Stroke Support Group has been an important source of friendship, information and encouragement for local stroke survivors and their families.

What’s involved?

Volunteers will help support the continued running of the group, ensuring that local people affected by stroke can continue to benefit from its services.

  • No previous experience is required.
  • Full guidance and handover support will be provided until Christmas 2026.
  • A flexible commitment of just a few hours per week.
  • An opportunity to make a real difference in the local community.

Where is the group based?

The group is based at:

British Legion Social Club
50 North Bridge Street
Bathgate
EH48 4PP
