The Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian (The Gateway) is hosting the Understanding Poverty Workshop at 10am on Wednesday 11th November at our offices in Bathgate, to provide Third Sector organisations with increased knowledge and understand of poverty, its causes and impacts.

The Joseph Rowntree foundation will present a strategic overview of Poverty in Scotland and there will be a host discussion afterwards with representation from the West Lothian’s Anti-Poverty Service providing local insight and knowledge.

The workshop will help increase an understanding of poverty in Scotland and locally in West Lothian, explore its local causes and impact. It will be followed by a hosted discussion and a chance to network after the workshop too.

This event is the first in a series of workshops and other work to help support the aims and outcomes of the Scottish Governments Fairer Futures Partnerships.
The Fairer Futures Partnerships (FFPs) are a key Scottish Government initiative designed to help eradicate child poverty by improving how local services support families who are experiencing, or are at risk of, poverty. The programme brings together local authorities, public services, community organisations and national partners to create more integrated, person-centred support that helps families increase their incomes, access employment and education opportunities, and improve their overall wellbeing.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation is a social change organisation, which works to speed up and support the transition to a future free from poverty.
