Not-for-profit theatres across the UK can apply for grants of up to £7,500 to make improvements that strengthen the sustainability, accessibility and long-term resilience of their venues.
Supported by the Linbury Trust, the Theatres Trust Small Grants Programme provides funding for small capital projects that help theatres improve their facilities and continue serving their communities.
Funding can support a range of practical improvements, including:
- Installing energy-efficient LED lighting
- Improving accessibility and level access
- Upgrading heating and cooling systems
- Installing hearing loops
- Improving building management systems
- Undertaking draught-proofing and energy efficiency measures
The programme offers an opportunity for community and voluntary theatre organisations to invest in improvements that reduce running costs, enhance accessibility and support their long-term future.
Who can apply?
The programme is open to not-for-profit theatres across the UK that have at least two years of accounts and deliver a year-round programme of live performances for the public.
Funding is available for capital improvements only. Revenue costs and survey costs are not eligible.
The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Friday 15 January 2027.
