This week marks the start of Volunteers’ Week 2025 — a special time each year to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution that volunteers make to communities across the UK.

Running from Monday 2 June to Sunday 8 June, Volunteers’ Week is now in its 41st year, and we’re proud to be joining organisations across the country in saying a huge thank you to everyone who gives their time to support others.

Volunteering takes many forms – from helping at local charities, to supporting community events, mentoring, fundraising, befriending, and so much more. Whatever the role, volunteers bring compassion, dedication and invaluable support to the people and causes that need it most.

Here in West Lothian, we’re lucky to have so many generous individuals who selflessly give their time to strengthen our communities. At Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian, we see the impact of volunteering every day – and we know just how vital it is.

To celebrate these efforts, we’re hosting a Volunteer Awards event on Thursday 5 June, where we’ll recognise and honour just a few of the outstanding individuals and groups making a real difference locally. It’s one of our favourite events of the year – and a chance to shine a light on the stories that inspire us all.

Throughout the week, we’ll also be sharing highlights, stories, and messages of thanks across our website and social media channels – so be sure to follow along and join the celebration.

To all volunteers – thank you. Your time, energy and kindness help shape a better, more connected West Lothian.

Happy Volunteers’ Week!
