Community Enterprise Fund Launches to Support Scotland’s Aspiring Social Entrepreneurs

Firstport has announced the launch of the Community Enterprise Fund, a new grant programme providing up to £5,000 to help community organisations in Scotland take the first steps toward establishing a social enterprise.

Funded by the Scottish Government’s Social Entrepreneurs Fund, this initiative is designed to support early-stage ideas that have the potential to generate income and reinvest profits for social good.

🔍 Eligibility

The fund is open to:

  • Constituted third sector or community groups based in Scotland

  • Organisations that are not yet trading regularly but have a strong social mission and a viable business model

💷 What the Grant Can Support

Funding can be used for a wide range of start-up costs, including:

  • Legal fees

  • Rent

  • Branding and website development

  • Insurance

  • Equipment and more

Priority will be given to proposals that:

  • Demonstrate a clear plan for income generation

  • Address a social or environmental challenge

  • Are led by a capable and passionate team

Organisations needing help to develop their ideas can access tailored support through Just Enterprise.
