Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian is pleased to share the results of the second annual Community Wealth Building (CWB) Survey, developed by the ESES Communities team. This survey provides a valuable snapshot of how the five pillars of CWB are understood across the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region.
This year’s survey offers unique insights into what communities value most, with local authority-level data from across Fife, Edinburgh, East Lothian, West Lothian, Midlothian, and the Scottish Borders.
One key finding is that awareness of Community Wealth Building is growing. The proportion of respondents who had never heard of CWB dropped significantly from 32% to 14.7%, suggesting increased engagement across the region.
The report also features voices from local communities, helping to build a better understanding of lived experiences and shared challenges—particularly around areas such as employability.
