Here at The Gateway in West Lothian, we’re buzzing with excitement as Volunteers’ Week 2025 draws near! This annual UK-wide celebration, running from Monday 2nd June to Sunday 8th June, is a fantastic opportunity to recognise and thank the incredible contributions of volunteers in our community and across the nation.
For over 40 years, Volunteers’ Week has provided a vital platform to shine a light on the diverse and unifying power of volunteering. It’s a time to acknowledge the invaluable efforts of individuals who dedicate their time, skills, and passion to make a real difference.
The impact of volunteering is truly significant. Across the UK:
- A staggering 14.2 million people formally volunteer at least once a month.
- Volunteering contributed an estimated £4.6 billion in productivity gains to the UK economy in 2024.
- An impressive 25 million people volunteered informally at least once in the past year.
These numbers highlight the sheer scale and importance of volunteering, and here in West Lothian, we see this dedication every single day.
The Gateway will be joining the nationwide celebration throughout Volunteers’ Week! We have exciting plans to recognise and appreciate the amazing volunteers who support our work and countless other organisations across West Lothian.
Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for details of our planned activities and celebrations. This is our chance to say a massive THANK YOU to all the volunteer heroes who make our community stronger, more vibrant, and a better place for everyone.
Let’s get ready to celebrate the heart and soul of West Lothian – our incredible volunteers!
