Carers UK has launched its annual State of Caring Survey for 2025, calling on unpaid carers across the UK to share their experiences and help drive lasting change.
Last year, over 12,500 carers took part in the survey, offering vital insights into the challenges and realities of caring for a loved one. This year, with government policy shifts and increasing pressures on carers, your voice is more important than ever.
The survey, open until 10th August, is the largest and most comprehensive of its kind. It informs not only Carers UK’s campaigns, but also the work of government departments, local councils, NHS services, charities, and support groups.
Carers UK has used previous survey results to:
-
Campaign for an increase in the Carer’s Allowance earnings limit
-
Advocate for paid carer’s leave
-
Respond to the NHS 10-Year Plan and consultations on social care
-
Raise awareness through national and local media outlets
Your contribution could directly influence policy decisions and improve support for unpaid carers across the UK.
Who should take part?
The survey is for anyone who is currently, or has previously been, an unpaid carer for a disabled, older or seriously ill family member or friend.
What to expect:
The survey takes around 30 minutes to complete, but responses are saved even if you don’t finish. You can also skip questions if you’re short on time. All answers are confidential and used anonymously unless you choose to share your details.

By taking part, you’re helping to amplify carers’ voices and push for the recognition and support carers truly deserve.
Deadline: 10 August 2025
Thank you for making time to share your experiences.
