Macmillan Cancer Support has opened applications for its CARE Grants Programme, offering funding to community organisations working to make cancer care fairer across the UK.
The programme focuses on four key principles — Culture, Agency, Respect and Equity — and aims to support projects that help people who currently face the biggest barriers to receiving good cancer care. Grants of £50,000 to £150,000 are available.
Organisations can apply if they are a UK-based charity, CIC, community group, faith organisation or similar. Macmillan is looking for projects that are community-led and fit into one of three themes:
-
Cultural responsiveness – helping services better understand and meet cultural needs.
-
Shared decision-making – supporting people to take part in conversations about their cancer treatment.
-
Dementia-friendly cancer care – improving support for people living with both cancer and dementia.
Funding can cover project staff, delivery costs and up to 15% of core costs.
Applications must be submitted by 23 January 2026. Macmillan encourages organisations to read the guidance, complete the budget template and prepare their answers offline before submitting online. Eligible applicants will also be asked to provide their annual accounts.
Information webinars will be held in December 2025 and January 2026 for anyone who wants to learn more.
