Organisations across Scotland are being reminded that the application deadline for the Scottish Government’s Climate Engagement Fund (CEF) is fast approaching.
The fund offers grants of £25,000 to £80,000 for projects running between April 2026 and March 2027. It is designed to support organisations that act as trusted messengers within their communities, helping people understand the climate emergency, how it affects everyday life, and the actions they can take.
What the fund supports
CEF is looking to support engagement projects that deliver meaningful impact and leave a lasting legacy. Priority areas include:
-
Reaching all parts of society, including communities that are less engaged with climate issues
-
Engaging people whose lifestyles have a higher climate impact
-
Building knowledge and skills so people better understand how climate change affects their lives and what action is being taken in Scotland
-
Highlighting the wider benefits of climate action, such as improved affordability, job opportunities, better health and wellbeing, and benefits for nature
-
Enabling communities to influence local decision-making on climate action and policy through place-based and participatory approaches
-
Strengthening public understanding and long-term support for climate action and protection of natural resources
Projects should help people make clear connections between climate change and their daily lives, while encouraging practical participation in climate action.
