Scottish Government’s Draft Climate Change Plan is open for consultation for one more week, providing an important opportunity for local communities and organisations to influence Scotland’s national approach to climate action.
The plan sets out ambitious aims and a clear overall vision. However, West Lothian Climate Action Network (WLCAN) has raised concerns about whether the plan can be delivered in its current form. While targets are theoretically met on paper, this relies heavily on delaying action, assuming future progress, and lacks sufficient regulatory change and clear funding commitments. WLCAN believes the plan needs to be strengthened to drive the scale and pace of change required.
WLCAN will be submitting a formal response to the consultation and is encouraging members and partners to help shape this response.
