Urban Forestry Funding Now Available from Future Woodlands Scotland

Future Woodlands Scotland has announced a new round of urban forestry funding, supporting projects that aim to improve and expand tree cover in towns and cities across Scotland — particularly in areas where well-maintained trees and woodlands are most needed.

The programme will fund a wide range of activities, including:

  • Tree planting and maintenance

  • Urban woodland care and management

  • Education and learning activities

  • Community engagement and participation

  • Project development costs such as consultancy, staff time and community involvement

Funding available

Grants range from £2,000 to £100,000, across two tiers:

  • Up to £20,000

  • Over £20,000

Projects can take place over a three-year period, offering flexibility for planning and delivery.

Who can apply?

Eligible applicants include:

  • Not-for-profit organisations

  • Educational institutions

  • Charities

  • Development trusts

  • Local authorities

  • Partnerships involving the groups above
