Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian is delighted to celebrate the success of Broxburn student Kanav Jain, who has been named UK Young Engineer of the Year 2026.
Kanav received the prestigious national award for his project, AeroAid: Autonomous VTOL Quadplane, recognising his innovation, technical skills and dedication to engineering.
Kanav is a student with First Step Robotics CIC, a West Lothian-based organisation that supports young people to develop skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through hands-on learning and mentoring opportunities.
This remarkable achievement highlights both Kanav’s talent and the positive impact of community-led organisations in helping young people realise their potential.
First Step Robotics CIC has expressed its pride in Kanav’s success, describing the award as a significant milestone and a testament to the hard work, creativity and commitment shown throughout the project.
