The Scottish Government has announced a further £15 million investment in the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults for 2027/28, providing welcome certainty for community organisations delivering vital mental health and wellbeing support across Scotland.

Since launching in 2021, the Fund has invested £99 million in grassroots organisations, helping local groups tackle social isolation, loneliness and mental health inequalities through activities including sport, outdoor programmes, creative arts and community-based support.

The early confirmation of funding will help organisations plan ahead and continue providing preventative support that enables people to access help within their own communities.

As the Third Sector Interface for West Lothian, Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian welcomes today’s announcement and looks forward to supporting local organisations when further details about Year 7 become available.

Alan McCloskey, Chief Executive Officer of Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian, said:

“We warmly welcome the Scottish Government’s commitment to continuing the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund. Over the past six years, the Fund has enabled community organisations to deliver invaluable support that improves people’s wellbeing, reduces isolation and strengthens communities across Scotland.

The early announcement provides greater certainty for organisations and will help them plan ahead with confidence. We look forward to working with our partners to support West Lothian organisations as further guidance and application details become available.”

Further information on eligibility, timescales and how organisations can apply will be shared as soon as it is released.
