Volunteering Matters Action Earth has launched its 2026 small grants programme, offering grants of up to £250 to volunteer groups across Scotland helping to improve local greenspaces and biodiversity.
The grants are available to volunteer-led projects in urban areas or near population centres that are carrying out environmental improvements through planting projects and habitat creation.
Projects could include:
- Community gardens
- Shared greenspaces
- Wildflower meadows
- Local ponds
- Community woodlands
- Wildlife homes and habitats
Priority will be given to volunteer groups of 20 or more people who:
- Work in areas experiencing social and/or economic deprivation
- Improve the health and wellbeing of their local community
- Involve people with disabilities, health issues or those at risk of exclusion
- Deliver significant environmental impact and/or mass participation
The fund aims to support practical community action that benefits both local people and the environment.
