Cycling UK is encouraging organisations across Scotland to apply to its Cycle Access Fund, which supports projects that help more people access cycling.
The fund provides capital grants to organisations to purchase cycles, cycle storage and related equipment, helping communities overcome barriers to cycling and making it a more accessible, convenient and affordable way to travel.
The fund is particularly aimed at supporting people who are struggling financially and is available across five funding strands:
- Individuals – helping organisations support people to purchase a bike.
- Shared – funding bikes and equipment for community bike libraries, loan schemes and shared cycling initiatives.
- Repair – supporting bike repair organisations and cycle shops to repair bikes.
- Recycle – funding the refurbishment of bikes for donation.
- Cycle Parking and Storage – helping organisations purchase or improve cycle storage facilities.
Cycling UK says the fund aims to reduce health and income inequalities, encourage more sustainable travel and help create safer, healthier communities by reducing short car journeys.
