Eligibility
Summary
Small Grants are only available to projects that will directly benefit patients of NHS Lothian, whether in hospital wards and departments, or in community health services. Applicants must be employees of NHS Lothian and if required, will have informed the applicable manager of their application prior to submission.
Fund award sizes
- Maximum: £5,000
- Notes on award amounts: In exceptional circumstances, grants of more than £5,000 may be available.
Who can apply
Applicants must be employees of NHS Lothian or those employed by GP practices contracted to NHS Lothian
When to apply
Small Grants are awarded four times a year. Upcoming deadlines are:

- 1 November 2023 – decisions made late November 2023
- 1 March 2024 – decisions made late March 2024
- 1 May 2024 – decisions made late May 2024

Exclusions
The Small Grants programme cannot fund certain costs, such as research costs, salary costs, capital costs or services delivered which are considered to be core provision by either acute services or GP practices.
