West Lothian Council is inviting people and organisations across West Lothian to have their say on a new draft Housing Domestic Abuse Policy.
The policy has been developed in response to new requirements introduced through the Housing (Scotland) Act 2025 and sets out how Housing Services will respond to the needs of tenants who have experienced, are experiencing or are at risk of domestic abuse.
The draft policy outlines how the Council will:
- provide a safe, sensitive and person-centred response;
- support victim-survivors and reduce the risk of homelessness;
- provide housing options and tenancy support;
- manage risks and referrals;
- work with relevant Council services and partner agencies; and
- consider appropriate action in relation to those responsible for abusive behaviour.
West Lothian Council is particularly keen to hear from relevant services, third-sector organisations and other interested individuals.
Feedback received through the consultation will help inform the final policy before it is submitted for approval and publication.
