Do you enjoy meeting people, supporting community events and making a positive difference? This rewarding volunteer opportunity with Hourglass could be the perfect way to use your time and skills to support older people across your local area.
Hourglass is the UK’s only charity dedicated to ending the harm, abuse and exploitation of older people. Through awareness raising, prevention, early intervention and direct support services, the charity works to promote safer ageing and build a fairer society for older people.
As a Community Events, Pop Ups and Fairs Volunteer, you’ll help represent Hourglass at community events, information stands and local fairs across West Lothian, raising awareness of the charity’s work and helping older people access the support they need.
The role also includes supporting the team behind the scenes by helping with event preparation, basic administrative tasks and updating the charity’s CRM system with information from community engagement activities.
This varied volunteering role is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with the public, is well organised and wants to make a meaningful contribution to their community. Once fully trained, volunteers may also have the opportunity to lead community events independently if they choose to do so.
Why Volunteer?
As a Community Events Volunteer, you’ll:
- Help raise awareness of an important cause.
- Meet and engage with people across your local community.
- Gain valuable experience in community engagement and event support.
- Develop administration and organisational skills.
- Make a real difference to the lives of older people.
A high level of reliability is important, as community events rely on volunteers attending as planned.
If you’re looking for a flexible and rewarding way to give back to your community, we’d love to hear from you.
