The Henry Smith Foundation is offering grants to help children experiencing disadvantage enjoy recreational trips and short breaks through its Holiday Grants Programme.
Schools, youth groups and not-for-profit organisations can apply for one-off grants of between £500 and £3,000 to support day trips or residential breaks lasting up to seven days for children aged 13 and under.
The programme is designed to give children who may otherwise miss out the opportunity to enjoy memorable experiences and activities. Funding can support a wide range of recreational trips, including outdoor adventures, camping breaks and visits to the seaside.
Eligible trips must take place within the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands and should focus on recreation rather than educational, curriculum-based or religious activities.
The Foundation is particularly keen to support organisations working with:
- Disabled children.
- Children experiencing financial hardship.
- Children facing systemic inequalities.
- Young people who have limited access to holidays and leisure opportunities.
Applications are now open for trips taking place between 1 October and 31 December 2026.
Applications must be submitted at least six weeks before the planned trip, although organisations are encouraged to apply as early as possible, as funding may be fully allocated before the closing date.
The application window closes on Thursday 19 November 2026.
