The MSE Charity has announced the next round of its Small Grants Programme, offering grants of £2,000 to £7,500 to organisations delivering projects that improve financial capability and help people develop long-term money management skills.
Founded in 2008 by Martin Lewis CBE, creator of MoneySavingExpert, the MSE Charity supports third sector organisations that help people build confidence in managing their finances and make lasting improvements to their financial wellbeing.
What Can the Funding Support?
The programme funds practical activities that improve financial capability and encourage positive money management behaviours.
Projects could include:
- Budgeting workshops
- Online banking training
- Raising awareness of financial scams
- Training staff and volunteers to provide better financial support
- Other initiatives that help people build financial confidence and resilience
Most grants awarded are under £5,000.
Funding can be used flexibly to cover both project costs and core organisational expenses, including up to 15% for overheads. Organisations can also apply for up to £500 towards essential IT equipment to support project delivery.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to:
- UK-registered charities
- Community Interest Companies (CICs)
- Credit unions
- Social enterprises
To be eligible, organisations must have:
- An annual income below £500,000
- Less than six months’ reserves
- A project focused on improving financial capability rather than primarily delivering debt advice or counselling
Key Dates
The next application window for Stage 1 Outline Proposals opens:
- Opens: 9:00am on Monday 6 July 2026
- Closes: 5:00pm on Monday 13 July 2026
Due to high demand, only the first 40 applications submitted during this window will be considered.
Applicants are encouraged to prepare in advance by reviewing the programme guidance, completing the eligibility quiz and drafting their proposal before the application window opens.
