Third sector organisations across West Lothian are invited to take part in a new training pilot focused on understanding and applying human rights within the sector.
THRE – Third Sector Human Rights and Equalities is launching a pilot of its new training course, “Core Concepts in Human Rights”, and is inviting third sector colleagues, partners and THRE Connectors to participate.
This new training builds on the growing work around human rights capability in the public sector, reframing it specifically for a third sector context.
About the training
The course explores the legal frameworks that underpin human rights, including international, UK and Scottish legislation. It will also examine practical frameworks that organisations can use to apply human rights principles in their day-to-day work.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how human rights legislation and practice can support the work of third sector organisations and strengthen their approach to equality and rights-based practice.

Dates: Tuesday 24 March and Wednesday 25 March
Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm (each day)
Location: Online (Zoom)
Please note that the training takes place across two half-day sessions, and participants are encouraged to attend both.
Who should attend?
This course may be particularly useful for staff and volunteers working within charities, community organisations, and social enterprises who want to strengthen their understanding of human rights and how they apply in practice.
