Social Enterprise Scotland is hosting a free online workshop designed to help organisations build deeper, more meaningful connections within their communities. Taking place on Wednesday 3rd December, 12:00–13:15, this practical session will focus on strengthening engagement — especially with communities that are often underserved or harder to reach.
About the workshop
Community engagement is far more than a tick-box exercise. Done well, it builds trust, strengthens relationships and supports healthier, more resilient communities. This workshop will explore:
-
Why community engagement matters
-
Proven strategies for reaching and involving diverse groups
-
How to improve engagement with people who are most disengaged or disadvantaged
-
Common pitfalls and how to avoid them
-
Practical tools, resources and ideas to take back into your work
Real-world case studies will help bring these themes to life, offering insights from practitioners who have hands-on experience delivering meaningful engagement.
Guest speakers
The session will feature two speakers with extensive expertise in community-led engagement and creative consultation:
-
Grace Cardoza, Sleeping Giants
A community-focused social enterprise based in Dumfries and Galloway, specialising in capacity building and engaging those who are most marginalised. -
Dr t s Beall, Protests & Suffragettes
A creative social enterprise led by artists, activists and historians, working to recover and re-voice the histories of women activists in Scotland.
Together, they will share practical examples, lessons learned and approaches that organisations of all sizes can adopt.
