Organisations and partnerships delivering large-scale nature restoration projects can now apply for grants of up to £15,000 through the Rewilding Innovation Fund.

Delivered by Rewilding Britain, the fund supports innovative projects that help overcome barriers to rewilding and contribute to the restoration of ecosystems across Scotland, England and Wales.

Funding is available for projects that are already rewilding, or preparing to begin rewilding at scale, in line with Rewilding Britain’s principles. Eligible projects may include individual landowners, collaborative partnerships or community-led initiatives.

Projects must:

  • Be based in England, Scotland or Wales.
  • Cover at least 40 hectares of contiguous land, or be a marine rewilding project of any size.
  • Be a member of the Rewilding Network (membership can be obtained during the application process).
  • Demonstrate a commitment to large-scale rewilding.

The fund supports a wide range of activities that can help progress rewilding projects, including:

  • Community engagement and consultation.
  • Feasibility studies and project planning.
  • Innovative technology and new approaches.
  • Strategic development and partnership working.

Since its launch, the Rewilding Innovation Fund has supported dozens of projects across Britain, helping to restore habitats, tackle the climate and nature crises, and create long-term environmental and community benefits.

The deadline for applications is Saturday 5 September 2026.
